Odisha gained three points by virtue of taking a first-innings lead of 78 runs against host Jharkhand in their three-day Vijay Hazare Trophy East Zone U-16 league match, which ended at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur today.
In-form Rajat Das and Pritam Jena put up impressive performance in the match for Odisha. Das, who scored one century and two fifties in the previous three matches, hit a responsible knock of 73 in the first innings after they elected to bat first. In reply, Jharkhand were bowled out for 186 with Pritam bagging five wickets for 37 runs.
After taking the sizeable first-innings lead, Odisha declared their second innings at 90 for seven and set a target of 169 for Jharkhand to win the match. The home team settled with one point as they could make 75 for five in the second innings when play on the third and last day came to an end. With this match, Odisha completed their league engagements with nine points from four matches.
